The Battle of Spring Hill was a battle of the American Civil War fought near Spring Hill, Tennessee on November 29, 1864 between elements of the U.S. Army of the Ohio under Maj. Gen. John Schofield and the Confederate Army of Tennessee under Gen. John Bell Hood. The battle was part of the Franklin-Nashville Campaign. The battle was a strategic Union victory as Schofield's army was able to withdraw north toward other elements of the Union Army, thus preventing his units from being cut-off and saving the Union forces in Tennessee from being defeated in detail.[1] The Battle of Spring Hill was immediately followed by the Battle of Franklin the next day.[2]
